A HEAD teacher says school managers should wisely use education subsidies provided by the Government.

Situm Primary School head teacher Ursula Tura, who has 21 teachers serving under her in Nawaeb, Morobe, said this during the school’s Grade Eight graduation ceremony.

She said on top of the government subsidies, teachers were going to get a pay rise next year.

“The tuition fee free policy assisted us greatly,” she said.

“We have some improvements this year with one classroom built and another ready to be built. But it’s our management of funds that will count.

“The pay rise will boost the morale of the teachers. It’s one of those good incentives by this Government and I believe it will also do some change.

“The Morobe provincial government should provide extra incentives. The pay rise for teachers next year is a great boost.

“However the onus is on teachers to improve their performance to achieve quality education for students.
