NEWCOMERS Vabukori Mosquitoes shut out Kipo Eastern Pride 22-0 in round three of the Moresby South Rugby League competition at Moresby South Stadium on Saturday.
Vabukori bagged five tries and one goal to fire a warning to the established A-grade teams.
Lam Eddie opened the scoring with an unconverted try 10 minutes in.
But it was centre Hicks Roge who starred with a double, slicing through the Pride defence in the 17th and 25th minutes.
Five-eighth Jerry Karava (38th) and Jeremiah Kavaro (57th) crossed over after the break to seal the win.
Pride were ineffective in attack and defence as their game was riddled with errors.
Meanwhile, Gabutu Dragons continued their winning run with a 16-10 victory against SS Rabbitohs.
Dragons were in front 16-6 at the break before Rabbitohs’ Henao Jonathan crossed over for a converted try early in the second half.
Both sides had opportunities to score more points, but were denied by poor ball security.
Fullback Rambo Brown converted his own try in the 7th minute to help Six-Mile Crows edge Vadavada United 6-4.
Vadavada were unable to level the scores despite a try of their own through Ensen Muli 18 minutes from fulltime.
Winger Kewa Henry’s solo unconverted try in the 20th minute helped Talai Spartans overcome a two-point deficit (Elwood Hoki penalty goal) to snatch a 4-2 victory from Sab City Raiders.
