A CHRISTIAN women’s group head says vaccines developed to protect against the Coronavirus (Covid-19) are blessings.
Papua New Guinea Christian Women’s president Emma Ilau said Christians needed to have faith that God was protecting them through the vaccines which had been developed by scientists and medical professionals.
She said fear of the vaccines was spread through confusion and misinformation but enough leaders and experts had been continuously encouraging the masses to get vaccinated to protect themselves and strengthen the population.
Ilau was among other leaders attending Motu Koitabu leaders’ meeting, a partnership programme between Papua New Guinea Council of Churches (PNGCC) and National Capital District (NCD) under the theme, “I am my brother’s /sister’s keeper”.
She said this was the NCD North-West church leader’s awareness on the Covid-19 vaccination.
Ilau said church leaders would not force people to get vaccinated, but instead do awareness in communities to support Government awareness to free people’s mind to make their decisions.
“We are not here to force anybody to get vaccination, we are here to give awareness, taking the vaccine won’t hurt you, it will protect you from the Covid-19,” she said.
