Vala, Vanua named in team of the tournament

CAPTAIN Assad Vala and Norman Vanua were named in the team of the tournament following the Barramundis’ history-making campaign at the T20 World Cup qualifier in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Vala claimed ten wickets and scored 197 runs in the 14-team tournament. He starred with 48 and three for 19 against Namibia to help PNG qualify for next year’s World Cup in Australia.
Vanua produced several match-defining performance with the bat throughout the tournament, including the semifinal against Namibia.
The International Cricket Council selection panel was full of praise for the pair. The Barramundis will have a few days’ break before they start training for the World Cup League Two 50-over tournament and the T20 World Cup next October.
