STUDENTS and staff at the Divine Word University’s St Benedict’s campus in East Sepik have been urged to trust in the Holy Spirit and search for the truth.
This was the call of Apostolic Nuncio Mathew Kurian Vayalunkal at a recent visit to Wewak where he was invited to launch the 2018 academic year and open a new administration building which cost K1.6 million.
He arrived last Thursday and
was received by campus vice-president Dr Father Lawrence Arochiaraj and provincial protocol officer Yani Sale.
On Friday, staff, students and the communities joined in celebrating the start of academic year.
“The nation has a great hope in teachers,” he said.
“Never give up with challenges and struggles because failures are the stepping stones to success.”
The campus in Wewak was established as a teacher’s college by the Catholic Education Agency in 1968.
It has since made a significant contribution to teacher education over the years.
The DWU accepted responsibility for the campus in August 2003 and it has become the home of the Faculty of Education.
The Diploma in Teaching (primary) programme comes under five strands: Professional development, language development, mathematics and science education, social and spiritual education, and community development.
