Vehicles to be returned: Apec

National

FINANCE and Rural Development Minister Charles Abel has called on all government agencies still holding onto Apec vehicles to return them within the next two weeks.
While releasing a summary report of the Apec asset disposal, Abel said any persons found to be acting in contrary to or obstructing the recovery exercise would be liable for prosecution. Without disclosing the number of vehicles still missing, he said failure to return the vehicles would require full and comprehensive recovery exercise led by the police.
Abel said that a proper and thorough assessment of all damaged vehicles would be undertaken diligently by the Department of Works through the board of survey to ensure transparency and accountability in the disposal of those damaged public assets.
He assured the people of PNG and all stakeholders that the exercise was one part of the overall winding up of all matters associated with Apec 2018 in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and the National Procurement Act.
