THE Western Highlands provincial government and the Mt Hagen city authority should find a location to accommodate those involved in the informal sector.

Buka Sanagake, from the Jika tribe, in Mt Hagen, who has been involved in the informal sector business since 2007, said a proper location should be designated to the informal sector vendors to conduct their business.

Sanagke said sometimes police and city authorities destroyed their items.

He said they were trading at the main bus stop.

“Sometime we lose more than K1,000 when our market is destroyed by police and the city authority,” he said.

“Look at the people living in the settlements. This is their lifeline to put food on the table and cater for the needs of their children like school fees.”
