Vendors racking in a good profit

INFORMAL market vendors selling food and other items outside the General Election 2022 counting venues are enjoying good sales.
In Port Moresby yesterday outside the counting venue for the Moresby North-East seat at the Sir John Guise stadium, Enga man Jackson Kamen says sales have been good.

He makes around K200 profit a day.
He works as a groundsman for the PNG Football Association and lives inside the stadium.
He sells water, phone credits, scones, betel-nut, cigarettes, tea and coffee.

Vendor Betty Phillar from Hela who lives at Morata has been selling fried lamb flaps, sausages, betel nuts and cigarettes, making about K100 profit daily.
Vendor Kenneth Lipu from Southern Highlands selling freshly-baked cream buns received orders from a bakery yesterday and was happy to make the sale.

Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Rio Fiocco said earlier that certain businesses would benefit from the election because of the increase in trade.
They include businesses involved in printing, car hire and sales.
