STREETS vendors trading in undesignated areas must move to the proper marketplace says the National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Chief Inspector Silva Sika.
Sika has issued a directive to all police units under his command to make awareness on the issue and to gradually enforce it.
According to the support unit officers from Boroko police station, they had been doing awareness around the Boroko area since last week.
Officer-in-charge senior Constable Petrus Mund said they would start arresting and charging vendors who defy the orders.

Police units at Gordon also did the same to vendors who were doing business outside of the market in order to keep the bus stop clear and clean. Sika said police would continue to carry out awareness throughout the city.
He said those who were arrested and charged for the same offense more than once would be profiled and eventually deported back to their home provinces.
He said everyone should take responsibility for the cleanliness of the city.
Sika also acknowledged officers in his command who had been doing awareness since.
He added the awareness would continue until those who were doing business in undesignated areas stop.
