THE country’s four most experienced bodybuilders Donald Kaiwi, Jack Viyufa, Steve Bomal and Wilfred Korua have been named in the final 10-member squad for next week’s Pacific Games in Port Moresby yesterday.

National bodybuilding president Cosmas Hannette said the team was well-balanced and was picked after undergoing two evaluations and the management was confident it would deliver the expected results.

Coach Alphonse Benny said the remaining days was all about ensuring the athletes were in the best shape for the July 13 competition.

The team will go into the Games Village on July 9.

Team manager Imbak Wiape said the squad would look for inspiration from Kaiwi, who won the gold medal at the 1995 Pacific Games in Tahiti when the sport was first introduced.

“Imagine having  him (Kaiwi) competing again after two decades — and this time at home. He is one of the athletes that other Pacific Islanders know and is an inspiration to our bodybuilders,” Wiape said.
