TWO inclusive health and hygiene awareness videos in accessible formats for people with disabilities have been launched on Friday.
The awareness videos were produced by Papua New Guinea Assembly of Disabled Persons, Callan Services for Person with Disabilities and Christian Blind Mission New Zealand (CBM NZ).
PNG Assembly of Disabled Persons co-chairperson Jacqueline Garoau said these awareness videos were created in line of their strategic plans to protect people living with disabilities, their caretakers, families and communities against Coronavirus and other related diseases.
“By participating in these videos, persons with disabilities are reminding their communities that they are also vulnerable to this virus and concerted effort are required to curb this deadly virus escalating further,” she said.
Garou had acknowledged all the people with disabilities who had shown their love and support to others by participating in the production of the videos.
Callan Service for Persons with Disabilities national unit administer Priscilla Kare said the launching of awareness videos was very important because of the fact that persons with disabilities had been without proper care and services.
“Persons with disabilities are as much part of the society but because the services they need are not available, everybody thinks that the persons with disabilities are not part of the society and cannot contribute to the nation building,” she said.
