Village gets electricity supply

PRIME Minister James Marape switched on power for Mapos 2 village in Buang local level government, Bulolo, Morobe, on Friday under the rural electrification programme.
Marape was accompanied by Bulolo MP and Deputy Prime Minister Sam Basil, Lands and Planning Minister John Rosso, Works Minister Michael Nali and Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Markham MP Koni Iguan for the visit to Bulolo to officiate at several projects.
Marape said being brought up in a village, he was happy to see electricity reaching the doorsteps of the people.
He said it was satisfying to see services being delivered to people in the districts and rural areas and pledged to ensure State power supplier PNG Power completed the electrification project in Bulolo.
Marape commended Basil for ensuring that funding was directed to the district for improving infrastructure such as roads, bridges and for schools and the rural electrification project.
Marape said his government would work to ensure power was accessible and affordable for the people.
He said cheaper and cleaner power from gas and hydro would be the chief sources of power generation.
Marape told the people of Mapos that they were privileged to have power supply at their door steps as most districts in the country did not.
He added that this would spur development and progress.
Basil thanked Marape and Nali for their presence and said there were lot of places to visit in the district to deliver the rural electrification project.
He said Mapos 2, Manga and Bapa had their power connected and the electrification project would be rolled out to Bulandem and Wara Kalap.
