Villagers elect Avei director

ULATO Avei has been elected by Boera villagers as their director in the Gas Resources PNG LNG Plant Limited.
She is the only woman director on any landowner company in PNG LNG project.
The 58-year old former public servant was elected 9-5 in a secret ballot conducted by the Electoral Commission beating Muri Henao.
Mineral Resources Development Company general manager external affairs and sustainable development Imbi Tangune said it was history in the making for landowners group in the country.
“This is the first time we have a female voice at the board level and I congratulate Avei for her victory at Boera village today (Saturday),” he said.
The board of Gas Resources PNG LNG Plant Limited represents beneficiaries of PNG LNG projects’ petroleum processing facility Licence 2 in Central.
It covers Lealea, Papa, Porebada and Boera villages.
