A GROUP of men from a remote village in Southern Highlands have travelled a long way to Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, to open their Eda Supa savings accounts with Nasfund.

The 25 men who are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELC) travelled three hours by road from their village of Wiru, in Ialibu-Pangia district, of Southern Highlands, to Goroka, Eastern Highlands, with the intention to open accounts so they could start saving for their retirement on a voluntary service.

Fifteen members of the church group registered during the visit to Nasfund’s Mt Hagen office with K100.

The group, led by ELC’s Highlands regional coordinator Richard Tente had agreed  to host the Nasfund team to visit the rest of their village that comprised six Lutheran Parish and to educate other members of church to understand the benefits of the Eda Supa retirement Savings Account.

A pastor in the group said that he was looking forward in ensuring the team host the awareness programme at one of the six Lutheran Church ovals for all the villages to attend and be aware of the benefits of Eda Supa that could help their villagers for the long term.

Nasfund’s Eda Supa superannuation savings account enables individuals who earn a form of income but are not registered to contribute under any Approved Superannuation Funds (ASFs).

Once a member registers under the Eda Supa savings account, they can do voluntary contributions
