AN outboard engine stolen from the water police unit in Port Moresby is allegedly used by villagers in Gulf, Kerema Police Station commander Snr Insp Michael Pakyei says.
“That engine stolen from the water police base at Konedobu has been seen at Ihu station in Kikori,” he said.
“Water police can work with us to recover that engine.”
Snr Insp Pakyei said water police officers were reported to be in Gulf, in search of two outboard engines allegedly stolen from their workshop.
Water police officers, requesting anonymity, said two suspects had been charged with stealing two engines from their workshop.
“These suspects reside near the workshop,” Snr Insp Pakyei said.
“They have allegedly stolen in the past many of our equipment such as water pumps and navigational lighting.” He said one engine was recovered from the back of the Konedobu police barracks.
