Villages do battle in 9s tournament

SIX Central villages in Hiri-West local-level government are pitting their best rugby league players in a nines tournament aimed promoting positive living and developing the code.
The men’s and women’s divisions are into their third week of competition at Papa.
The teams comprise of players from Papa, Lealea, Kido, Boera, Porebada and Kouderika.
Tournament coordinator and veteran intercity referee Moses Tony Lyn said: “The tournament has attracted a lot of talent, including former intercity cup players, from the villages.
“I’m glad to see many young girls and women playing in the competition.”
