A CHINESE businessman and his wife in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, are in shock after an alleged impersonator posted photos and said the wife had been beaten and threatened with a pistol.
Jolenda Mausen, 25, of mixed East Sepik and German parentage, and a mother of two, is married to Steve Lin (Facebook name, real name withheld).
“I am depressed and devastated,” she said.
“I have a caring and loving husband and I do not know why someone would impersonate me and post claims of violence.
“One of the photos posted with three others was a photo I posted on Tiktok two years ago.
“I was in the kitchen and a blender accidently landed on my head and I was rushed to the hospital.”
The impersonator took screen shots of the Tiktok photo and added three other photos on Feb 2 using a Facebook account called (PNGACM) Callidora Mausen.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Highlands eastern end commander – Joseph Tondop said the criminal investigation division had referred the matter to the police information and communication technology section and they were working on identifying those behind the post.
Mausen said after the post went viral, the criminal investigation division visited her and were surprised to see her in good health.
She said her family had also contacted her to check on her and she had assured them that she was fine and had no problem with her husband.
Lin said he received phone calls from his family in China about the post.
He said he and his wife were confused about the post.
“The Chinese community in the country were not happy with me at first, but I explained that the post was fake and done to destroy my reputation,” he said.
