THE NCDC Port Moresby Vipers have trimmed down their training squad from 45 to 33 players for the 2018 PNG National Rugby League Digicel Cup
Coach Joe Sipa said three more players from the 33 would be omitted in the final squad.
Sipa said selections were made based on the players’ attendance during the last two weeks, commitment in training, discipline, attitude plus last Sunday’s fitness test at Sir John Guise Stadium.
He said by the end of the week players would know who has made the final cut for the semi-professional competition.
“We got an exciting side consisting of several experienced players and youngsters from PRL and Moresby South who have shown a lot of potential during training and we are looking forward to this year’s Digicel Cup competition,” Sipa said.
He appealed to all the senior players and up and coming youngsters to attend all training sessions.
“I urge all the players including seniors and juniors to attend every Vipers training,” he said.
The former Kumul was retained by the Vipers board headed by chairman Ted Lulu after his success at the end of the last season.
