HELA Wigmen coach Charlie Wabo praised prop Tommy Moide for laying the platform for the side’s 22-8 win over Gulf Isou at the Oil Search National Football Stadium in Port Moresby yesterday.
The premiership-winning coach said after the game that Moide changed the momentum of the game with his size and hard running.
Man of the match Moide outmuscled Isou’s defence twice to score a double in round three of the Digicel Cup.
“I’m really happy for Tommy,” Wabo said.
“There is no doubt he has the size and he really used that to our advantage with his big runs.
“The rest of the forwards and our backs were feeding off him and it’s always good to have such a player in your team.
“Tommy had a direct impact on the outcome of the game.
“I think he deserves the man of the match award and I look forward to see him putting on more big performances in the rest of the season.”
Meanwhile, Wabo said Peter Pakali and Tony Wemin where the Wigmen’s new halves pairing.
“They are new to each other’s game and they are only making that transition getting used to each other in the first three rounds,” he said.
