Waghi Mek revival sought

Letters

The Waghi Mek coffee plantation is the second largest in the world and it was the backbone of the economy in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.
Now that the government is increasing its budget and investing in agriculture by establishing Kumul Agriculture Limited (KAL) to stimulate inclusive growth and broaden the domestic base economy, its first preference should be to revive and rehabilitate the Waghi Mek plantation.
There are tonnes of potential in it and will definitely support the government’s long and medium-term development plan.
Jiwaka Governor Dr William Tongamp has to make this happen.
We, the people of Jiwaka, want strategic changes and development in the province.
Can the governor be very strategic like other Highlands governors are doing to increase their internal revenue instead of waiting for this little slice of PSIP to develop the province?
Dr William needs to look for a development partner to help develop the Waghi Mek plantation.
Look for alternative ways to create more internal revenues for the province rather than waiting for PSIP.
The country is now growing and moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
All other province are moving to obtain autonomy and make their province a model one.
We Jiwakans, too, want our province to be developed and Dr William has to start the movement by reviving the Waghi Mek plantation.

Cry Blo Jiwaka!
