Wama succeeds at juggling act

Juggling school and sport is something most Papua New Guineans find hard to cope with at the best of times but for national footballer Wira Wama it was a testimony and a history set for himself and his family.
It was a dream come true for Wama, pictured, when he graduated on Sunday with a bachelor of business administration in digital media marketing from Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, Wisconsin, United States.
“It was a good feeling accomplishing something apart from football, especially a degree in education,” former Hekari United midfielder Wama said.
“I never thought I would come this far but I can only say that God is so gracious, merciful and faithful to me.”
Discipline, commitment and patience has brought him this far to achieve his dream.
“I would say all dreams, success and compliments are pointless if you do not have Christ as your lord and saviour.”
“So, accept Christ in your life and continue from there by seeking his will, plan and purpose for your life.
“He will fulfil the desires of your heart.”
Wama last represented the country at the 2016 Oceania Football Confederation Nations Cup before returning to the US to complete his studies.
He is now involved as the assistant coach for the Maranatha Baptist University women’s soccer team.
Wama will train with Milwaukee Bavarian, one of the best soccer club in Wisconsin state in US Premier League this summer.
Wama said he was grateful to the university and everyone who had contributed towards his achievement.
