Wanted man captured by police

A MAN suspected of killing five people at Sihian village in Madang in 2019 has been arrested by police.
Madang provincial police commander acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang said the man was captured following a raid at the suspect’s house at Sihian village on Monday .
Rubiang alleged that the man was responsible for killing 20-year-old Greg Kawas, Kawas’s father Kori Kawas, mother Melib Kawas and another man, Kenny Mai at Sihian village on March 28, 2019.
Rubiang also alleged that the suspect raped Edwina Amus on the same day before killing her in front of her husband.
He said the man also tried to rape another woman.
Rubiang said the man was also wanted for a string of crimes from 2014.
He said police who were searching for him located him at his house at Sihian village.
“The man was armed when the police arrived at his house in the night,” he said.
“When he heard dogs barking he walked out of the house with a flash light and a gun and approached.
He was shot and wounded.”
Rubiang said police took a loaded gun from the man.
He said the injured suspect was taken to Modilon Hospital.
Rubiang said the man would be charged once treated and released from the hospital.
