THE Warangoi Hydro Landowners Association (WHLA) has been told to organise itself and plan the use of K5 million given to them by Government.
Chairman of Gazelle Agro-Industrial Special Economic Zone and Rabaul Tuna Export Processing Zone, Sam Manikot, told leaders of the association to start making plans on how they could use the money given to them early this year for their land and river which PNG Power Ltd had been using to supply power since 1983. “I am appealing to you the leaders of the WHLA to start writing up your project plans and submissions,” he said.
“I also want you to do up the budget break up of that K5 million and use it accordingly on little small-to-medium enterprise businesses as start-ups that will help to generate income.”
Chairman of the Qaqet Stewardship (Baining) Nicholas Leo said the K5 million would be shared equally between the two major clans – Mali and Uramot.
Leo added the two clans would receive K2 million each while the other K1million would be given to WHLA for administration purposes.
