WORKERS at the Baisu Correctional Institution Service in Western Highlands are unhappy with acting Commissioner Martin Balthazar’s decision to appoint three officers to assess their performance.
They said they had submitted their names to the Correctional Institution management team to make staff assessments.
They said the management was to select them to attend the non-commissioned officers’ course and providing security in the election.
They said that the three officers were not supposed to be involved in the selection and assessing of staff performances.
They said the three officers did not know much about their performances and selection could be made on favouritism.
They said Balthazar should call in the commander of Baisu jail, Chief Supt Simon Sobiam and his operation manager, Snr Insp Jim Kamin, to be on the selection panel.
Sobiam and Kamin are on leave and the three officers have called in by Balthazar to help acting commander, Sabina Roika.
They said it was that neutral people be called in to make the assessment.
Roika said she could not do much because that was the head office decision.
