WARDS and local level governments (LLGs) in East New Britain have been encouraged to create partnerships for economic advancement.
Provincial commerce adviser Rosemary Murure issued this challenge last week during the 2021 provincial managers’ conference.
Murure said wards and LLGs needed to tap into business investment opportunities and form strategic alliances to earn revenue to the wards and LLGs.
“All wards and LLGs must not rely on Government funding and sit and wait complaining to the Government that they are not given enough money,” she said.
Instead, you have the opportunity make use of it, you can make money.”
Murure told the LLG managers that they needed to always work to assist their wards in improving the livelihoods of the people.
“This is so that people are satisfied and content with the kind of life we have planned for them in order to fulfil our provincial vision for ENB to have an educated, healthy and wealthy population living in peace,” she said.
Murure said the provincial government wanted to promote the development of more local entrepreneurs.
