CHUAVE MP Wera Mori pledged K100,000 to the Chimbu Warriors after their 12-8 win against the Petroleum Resources Kutubu Gulf Isou at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby on Sunday.
“Sports are an integral part of human development,” Mori said.
Mori told The National that it was only fair that his district picked up part of the team’s expenses.
“We’ll make a payment of K50,000 this week and the other K50,000 in May,” he said.
“The Warriors are the official flag bearers of Chimbu, including my district.” Mori also pledged K50,000 to the Bintangor Goroka Lahanis.
“We also have a commitment to the Goroka Lahanis because there are five to seven thousand of my people from Chuave living in Goroka,” he said.
“About three or four players from Chuave play with the Goroka Lahanis.”
Chimbu Governor Michael Dua was also present to show his support for the Warriors. Dua told the players and supporters that the Chimbu government would support them as they represented the province.
