Water issue affecting inmates

MORE than 400 prisoners at Baisu jail are among thousands badly affected by water problems in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands.
Kagamuga Airport residents, including businesses, police barracks, National Airport Corporation have gone without water for about a month due to broken water pipes caused by heavy machinery working on the four-lane road to the airport.
Prisoners and Correctional Services officers with their family members are now using nearby creeks to get water.
Jail commander Timbi Kaugla said the dry season was not helping.
“I’ve already reported the mater to Water PNG and Works Department to rectify the problems,” he said.
Water PNG branch manager in Mt Hagen Eluid Mayarom said he sympathised with those affected by water problems.
