We demand round table discussions

Letters

I WOULD like to bring this to the attention of the West Sepik Provincial government, the Department of Works and Highways and the Minister concerned Solan Mirisim.
What has happened to the funds allocated by the Marape-Rosso Government for sections of the Vanimo East Coast Highway at Ningra, Rawo, Poko, Puare at Onei.
A company is presently working on this highway but the quality of work is really poor.
This part of the highway also runs through traditional land and never at any time has a representative from any government department sat down with the landowners to acquire the land for this purpose for a national highway.
This used to be a road built by a logging company for the transportation of logs
We the landowners would like the provincial government and the Department of Works and Highways to come out clear and address this before engaging and contracting a company to work our land.
We the landowners must be consulted.
This company presently engaged went ahead without our consent damaging our plants and land.
We would like a proper round table discussion with provincial and Government representatives to engage a recognised construction company to build this road to last for the people of Vanimo East Coast to access services in Vanimo town.
It seems money has been spent on a poorly built road now in use.
We also would like to query the use of the log export development levy (LEDL) for Vanimo landowners in Blocks 3, 4 and 5.
This levy is purposely for infrastructure and agricultural purposes for the villages within this block area. Where has the money gone to?

Concerned landowner
