GOROKA Lahanis coach Michael Moseh lamented his side’s error rate, which he pin-pointed as a game killer for his side in yesterday’s Digicel Cup grand final.

The Lahanis were always on the backfoot trailing 16-10 in an even opening half but lost their way in the second half letting in four unanswered tries before grabbing a consolation through centre Minaho Goso six minutes before time.

“The first 10 minutes of that second half we made a lot of mistakes and the Vipers capitalised and scored some tries,” Moseh said.

“Mistakes are part and parcel of rugby league but we made too many mistakes.

“I’m not sure what happened, maybe they were feeling the pressure but I did tell them to calm down and play.

“I told them that we had to make the most of the wind. We didn’t take advantage of every opportunity we had and about the wind, we didn’t use it enough.”

Moseh said his side opened the match in good form matching the Vipers in the middle third and despite conceding the first try, an aerial effort to Elijah Riyong, the Lahanis were able to score two tries to the Vipers’ three.

Moseh commended five-eighth Noel Zeming who had a hand in this side’s first half tries.

“This was Noel’s first final and he really had an impact. He was impressive. I thought our forwards tried hard, especially Gonzella Urakusie, Supa Kokote and George Abba, who had good games,” Moseh added.

The Lahanis will now have a break before the players are released to play in the Simon Sia Cup next month. Training for the 2014 Digicel Cup starts in January.
