We must respect public offices

IT is sad that an important office like the Ward Two council office in Lae was burnt down. If it is found to be the work of criminals, then those responsible must be severely punished. Public offices should be respected because it is for the community they serve, not for any one person or group. It is highly suspicious that this happened at a time when the president has been rightly vocal against criminal activities committed by illegal settlers on a well-known block of land in that council ward. It is high time the Lae district administration comes in to do something or better yet, gets rid of the settlement before further trouble erupts. I support and encourage Yawing and her officers to keep working on improving their ward and not give in to people who think they can hold the community at ransom with their criminal acts. Good people and law-abiding citizens will always win.
