Weather office: Expect cooler temperatures

National

THE National Weather Service (NWS) is advising people around the country to be prepared for cooler temperatures across the country.
“The cold winds and cooler temperatures we are experiencing presently can be attributed to the winter in Australia,” National Weather Service director Samuel Maiha said.
“The weather in Port Moresby and the southern parts of the country should be mostly fine.”
Maiha said the New Guinea Islands would experience rains, mostly in the southern parts of East and West New Britain including parts of Mamose.
Most parts of the country, however, would experience rain with light south easterly winds to continue over the next week.
Maiha said the weather patterns experienced lately in the country was indicative of a global trend with other parts of the world also experiencing unusual conditions such as the heat wave in Europe.
He said the country would most likely to experience a heat wave in November or December.
