Weather office issues rain, strong wind warning

PEOPLE travelling in small boats in coastal waters have been warned of strong winds and big waves.
The National Weather Service issued the warning on Monday as rain and strong winds are experienced in many parts of the country, including Port Moresby.
“The winds are extremely dangerous and may cause damage to small crafts and boats,” a statement from weather office stated.
It said coastal waters from Daru to Kiwai Island, Yule Island, Hood Point, Vitaz Strait, Siasia and Long Island in Morobe, West New Britain and the Coral Sea should expect strong winds.
“Strong North-West winds are expected in the next 24 hours. It may cause rough sea and high waves,” the statement said.
“The winds are extremely dangerous.
“All small craft and boats are advised to take safety measures before going out to sea.”
