West Eagles continue perfect season with 95-33 rout of Koboni

WEST Eagles remain undefeated after round four of the Port Moresby Australian Football League (POMAFL) as they thrashed Koboni 95-33 in the A-grade at the Colts Oval on Saturday.
Centre half-forward McKenzie Kaman starred in the win, kicking four goals in his side’s 15-goal haul.
Eagles added five behinds to their total score while Kobonis kicked only five goals and three behinds to lose by 62 points.
With the experience of PNG Mosquitoes in Kelly Kaugla, Jeffery Vogae, Alistair Sioni and Camillo Ekari added to the Eagles outfit, they were unstoppable.
Kobonis attack led by Thomas Moses, Kila Rawali and Ryan Wariken did tried everything in the second and third quarter to get their side into the contest, but Eagles dominated in every aspect of the game. Eagles led 20-0 after the first quarter. The Joe Timothy-coached Eagles continued their dominance in the second quarter and led 44-13 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Kobonis showed some positive signs as they limited Eagles’ scoring to just eight points, but bagged 14 points themselves to cut the margin to 25.
But Eagles picked up momentum again in the final quarter which saw them kick seven goals and a behind while Koboni bagged just one six-pointer.
Timothy told The National that experience continued to contribute to his side’s dominance.
“I am pleased that we remain undefeated so far this season,” he said.
“Every person played well and it was a great team effort.
“With the consistent form of our side, we are eyeing another premiership.”
