GULF Governor Havila Kavo came to the rescue of the Wests rugby league club by presenting K11,500 for new uniforms.

Borrowing uniforms from other clubs will be a thing of past.

Former Kumul five-eighth and coach Tuksy Karu was lost for words when Kavo’s representative Jacob Ivaroa turned up with the cheque at the Wests training venue at PRL Oval 3 on Tuesday.

Karu thanked Kavo for the assistance as the club had been without uniforms since the start of the competition eight weeks ago.

Ivaroa said the money was to honour a commitment the government made to the club last year.

The money was drawn from the  Gulf provincial government’s shares through Petroleum Resources Kutubu (PRK) to support the flagship of Gulf province in Port Moresby rugby league competition.

“West RFLC is the flagship of Gulf province in the Port Moresby rugby league, and I am thankful to Governor Kavo for his timely rescue,” he said.
