COUNTING in Western province has been delayed because one local level government area was still polling.
Counting for the province was supposed to start last Friday.
Provincial election manager Sponsor Navi said bad weather in the South Fly area also caused the delay.
Navi said Middle Fly and North Fly had completed polling last week with all the ballot boxes safely stored.
“Hopefully polling will finish tomorrow (Monday) and we will start counting by Wednesday,” he said.
He said about 300 officers would be engaged in counting the 100-plus ballot boxes.
He said ballot boxes for the South Fly electorate were stored at the Daru YC Catholic hall, Middle Fly boxes at the Balimo council chamber and North Fly and the regional seat at the Defence Forward Base in Kiunga.
