Western influence

Letters

ENOUGH is enough of foolish Western influence.
The 8 million people of PNG are living in a stigmatised poverty lifestyle.
We are rich in natural resources yet we are so poorer.
We have been suppressed and seduced by Western-foreign influenced in policies and amended or made laws to suit their self-interest for the last 50 years.
It resulted in keeping our kina value in suspense/depreciates by the poor policies and advice.
PNG has many resources extracted by foreign countries since 1932.
The valuation of our PNG Kina is measured in nothing but gold alone in Central Bank.
The Central Bank Act was amended in year 2001 by then prime minister Sir Mekere Morauta and removed the powers to store gold in central bank.
There were two parts of the section amended and removed its powers to store gold in PNG.
At the moment, it is illegal to store gold in PNG meaning that it is also illegal to build a bullion bank in PNG as well.
Our forefathers have been deceived by the foolish foreign advice and kept the PNG Kina in suspense for the last 50 years.
PNG is only the expensive country to live apart from Australia and Singapore or Indonesia.
We are good consumers regardless of the price increases every day.
People are living a pretence life every day.
Who will be the real man or woman to alleviate poverty in PNG?
We have been systematically jailed for the last 50 years.
Today is your time Prime Minister James Marape.
You are a true son of PNG to get back PNG.
Many of our sectors have been devalued by foolish foreign influence and yet we are living life by promoting Western influence.
Look at African countries like Libya and Egypt or Uganda where civilisation started.
Civilisation was not started in China, Australia, the US or Singapore etc.
If we need advisers or lawmakers please get consultants from rich African countries to build our economy and country.
My advice to you prime minister is to reamend Central Bank Act and restore the powers removed by past governments.
I think timing is right for you to also amend Mining Act and align it with Central Bank Act and build a bullion bank for your 8 million people in PNG.
We are not too late to build a bullion bank in the country.
You should also create a new state entity like PNG Mining Holdings a separate state entity to manage gold and other minerals on behalf of the people of PNG and store it in our bullion bank.
The following cities have been built by gold from Misima, Wau and Bougainville copper mine in the past, which we can learn a lot of mistakes from them; Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney and Cairns.
Let me join rest of Papua New Guinean to get back PNG and be part of in 10 years’ time PNG will be a richest Black Christian Nation in the world.
I would like to thank the Prime Minister James Marape for his 14 strategies of your vision to bail our PNG.
The key approach divided into two interworking sectors, the economic sector interventions and social sector interventions.
To bail out PNG by both bureaucrats and politicians, they must also work together on a common understanding that is to liberate the 8 million people from poverty.
Poverty is the statement of problem.
The Marape-Steven government alluded in the two interworking sectors, the economic sector interventions and social sector interventions.
It is a virus in such a developing country like PNG.
It is very true that we have problems in our communities, we belong to a society, whether you are a prime minister or secretary or chef executive officer you belong to a village, a society made up of tribes and clans.
The purpose for being a public servant is to serve the interest of the people, your communities and tribes.
