Western warned

Letters

THE Western Province gas pipeline is expected to have gas going through by 2022 or 2023.
However, that will only happen if all stages of preparing the pipeline go smoothly.
This is a major investment.
While the preparation process is in progress, the leaders of Western have to start thinking very seriously about the project.
As they are the decision-makers on behalf of the people, they should start creating strategies constructively in advance before the operation opens.
All Western leaders must stand firm, think critically and be proactive before making any decision.
Their decision will determine the future for the entire province.
I also want to ask all the elites of the province to give their input to help our leaders prepare for this project.
Let’s all work together to promulgate the spirit of teamwork in order to stand up to the criticisms and challenges that may arise.
What’s the biggest lie we’ve been fed by our government?
We’ve been played: We’ve been led to believe that happiness and security were ours if only we did as we were told and follow the path laid out for us.
The PNG government has failed and many decisions it made has not been made in the best interest of the people. But it is our responsibility to do something about it and guarantee that we and our people will not be played again.
The first step is to embrace this truth and then to understand the importance of the question above.
I hope you’ve swallowed a big dose of harsh reality, Western.
Avoid what happened at the OK Tedi Mine.
Back to you leaders and elites of Western. It’s your turn now.
