Westpac beat defending champs in corporate netball

WESTPAC beat BSP 1, 24-18 in the first semifinal between the first and second ranked teams in the Private Company Netball premier division yesterday.
BSP 1, who are the defending champions were determined to claim an automatic grand final berth and it showed in the opening minutes of the game.
BSP moved the ball around with purpose as they found spaces in the Westpac defence. However as the first half wore on Westpac began to find their rhythm and began to take control of the game retaining possession and providing their shooters with goal-scoring opportunities.
By half time Westpac had taken a 12-8 lead over BSP.
Despite a late second half surge by BSP, Westpac’s tactic of long passes into the shooting circle paid off as their shooters made sure of their opportunities.
The win gives Westpac a grand final berth, and they await the winner of the second semifinal this week between BSP 1 and Fairdeal Liquors.
Fairdeal Liquors beat Kina Bank, 20-18 in the other premier division semi between the third and fourth ranked teams.
Kina Bank bowed owhile Fairdeal Liquors face BSP 1 with both teams eager to book their place on grand final day.
BSP would be determined to put the loss behind them and refocus.
In the PCNC division one semifinal, Air Niugini beat Pacific Industries 19-12 and Moore Printing beat Pro Clean 14-11.
