What happen to student leaders?

Letters

EVERY year, in the past four decades, we have had many very vocal student leaders fighting against corruption through boycotts and strikes.
As a result, we had students being shot, universities being shut down, properties being destroyed, hiccups in the education system, students failing their studies or had school fees problems, and many lives were affected.
Some demonstrations were successful while others were not.
Some of those student leaders are now senior people in the Government system or private sector.
Some are business men and women while others are politicians.
Some are even roaming the streets while others have retired.
In one way or another, they were leaders and are still leaders.
Where are they now when the country is sinking due to corruption, mismanagement and too many unnecessary loans?
This has resulted in deteriorating infrastructure and poor service delivery, inflation, medicine shortage, rise in curable disease, salary problems, shortage of funds, fall in foreign reserves, etc?
There are MPs, even ministers in the current corrupt Government, who were once student leaders fighting corruption.
It is a shame and a disgrace that these very student leaders, the brains of the nation who have fought against corruption, have deserted the people.
They have dumped the people that they represented for their own self-esteem.
We need to set up a system that is transparent, corruption free and fair for all citizens of this country.
