What is the role of CIC?

WHAT is the role of the Coffee Industry Corporation (CIC) in PNG?
Let me also ask why is it that coffee farmers in the Highlands are deviating from coffee into food and other self-sustaining commercial enterprises?
I think the basic reason is because of unstable coffee prices.
Which agency determines prices? If it’s not CIC then how can it intervene to get the best coffee prices for the hardworking farmers? It’s quite notable that the government is investing a lot in CIC but the future of coffee particularly in the Highlands looks unpromising. Huge coffee companies in the region are also curtailing their operations.
The recent government’s intervention in the coffee borer exercise is envisaged as a complete waste of public monies.
What has the CIC achieved so far in addressing the coffee borer issue?
The people of PNG deserve a full report of the half a billion kina intervention package offered by the government to address coffee borer. Despite roadblocks setup along strategic locations in the highlands, coffee was still flowing unceasingly to the coast, yet officers engaged to do checks got paid fat salaries. Hire cars, logistics and all this crap costs the taxpayers a lot of money.
We can’t continue to pay for a monster that was created by the government that in turn sucks the government’s coffers.
