THE board and management of the multi-million kina Wamp Nga Holdings in Mt Hagen have been urged to brief councillors about how it is doing.

Former Mt Hagen city mayor and Moge tribe leader Joseph Tengen said the people were in the dark about the operation of the company owned by three LLGs in Western Highlands – Hagen 60%, Nebilyer 20% and Anglimp (now Jiwaka) 20%.

He was responding to Mt Hagen local level government president Wai Rapa who said the board had already met four times.

Tengen urged Rapa to explain the dates he and his board met to brief councillors about the management of the Wamp Nga Holdings.

He said the company was owned by the people and it would be only fair if they were told about what was happening with it.

“If Wai Rapa cannot explain, then we want a caretaker management to be appointed so that people can elect some new leaders to take charge during the coming LLG elections.

“It is not good when Wai did not conduct any meeting for more than one year and yet claim that he did in the media,” Tengen said.

“It would be better if we tell the people how their company is being managed.”
