WHP woman turns 104

A WOMAN with seven children, 25 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren celebrated her 104th birthday last Thursday at her village.
Konga Sabina Ambil’s age was confirmed by the record of her baptism kept by the Catholic Church.
She was born on July 9, 1916 at Kulg village in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands. She is from the Kungnuka tribe.
She married Ambil Rambi from the Moge Kimnika clan, and had five sons and two daughters.
She is believed to be the oldest person at Biapuri village in Mt Hagen. Her family came together last Thursday to celebrate her birthday and helped her cut a big cake they had prepared.
Her husband’s family gave K22,000 and three cows to her Kungnuka tribe to thank them for her life.
Her family spent more than K30,000 to organise the special day for her.
Her grandson Nelson Kuk said the family decided to hold a party at her request.
