Why the silence on Garden Hills eviction?

Letters

I AM disappointed with the recent direction by Prime Minister James Marape to stop eviction of settlers in ATS, Port Moresby, before finding viable solutions to benefit both parties.
If the prime minister can intervene at the national level, where were our local MPs and governor during the Garden Hills eviction?
They have bulldozed them without due consideration.
Many had been taken in by their relatives and churches as if they were refugees in their own country.
Where are our Christian principles and human rights values that some of these leaders have been vocal about?
Why are the leaders and advocates suddenly silent on the Garden Hills case?
I see no compassion and humane attitude to these majority of Eastern Highlands people who have been evicted and have not retaliated but like dogs, have had their tails between their legs and have moved on silently.
I guess the pain they felt must be very distressful.
Governor Powes Parkop and the MPs in the National Capital District have been boasting about the settlement upgrade programme as a solution which takes years to accomplish, but what immediate action plans do they have for the victims who were bulldozed out of their dwellings?
