A WOMAN from Hela is on the run after she allegedly murdered her husband with a knife at Eight-Mile in Port Moresby last Monday.
National Capital District Metropolitan Supt Silva Sika said the husband was a mechanic who went drinking with his friends after work.
“While he was with his friends drinking, the wife approached and asked for some money. He gave her K100.
“She didn’t agree with the amount and tore the K100 note into pieces,” he said.
He said she then hid behind a tree and spied on her husband and his friends.
Sika said after a while, the husband left his friends and walked to a nearby store to buy something.
The accused confronted her husband and got into an argument.
“She allegedly stabbed him with a kitchen knife twice. One on his chest and the other on his back.
“The husband fell onto the ground. He was rushed to the hospital but died on the way,” he said.
Sika said the wife escaped after allegedly stabbing her husband.
“The relatives of the deceased retaliated and attacked one of the family houses of the woman at Eight-Mile on the same day. Her relatives also escaped.
“There was another relative of the woman who was injured and she was admitted to the hospital,” he said.
Sika said the police are on the lookout for the woman.
