THE Hela Wigmen have a million reasons to smile in their quest for the supremacy this year’s Digicel Cup.
The Hela flagship in the semi professional competition signed a  K1.2 million sponsorship package with Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited yesterday.
The one-year sponsorship will enable the franchise to participate in the Digicel Cup.
The agreement signed in Port Moresby was witnessed by Hela Governor Francis Potape, Tari-Pori MP and Finance Minister James Marape and Ipswich Jets chief executive Jason Cubit. Kumul Petroelum Holding managing director Wapu Sonk said the sponsorship for the Wigmen was to help create opportunities for Papua New Guineans  to excel in rugby league.
The backing fits into one of KPHL visions which to create opportunity for Hela youth in sport.
Wigmen CEO Andy Hetra, pictured, thanked KPHL for the sponsorship saying it would go towards the clubs development programme.
The package covers the affiliation fee to the PNGNRL Digicel Cup, the administrative costs and infrastructure development.
The occasion also witnessed the announcement of a partnership between the Wigmen and Jets which will see several Wigmen play for the Ipswich outfit in the 2017 Intrust Super Cuip.
