“Absolutely disgusting” were the words used to describe this scene. These pictures were posted on facebook by a Port Moresby resident concerned about the health issues as this “dump” is only meters away from the Koki Fish Market. “How is it okay for us to dump our rubbish into the ocean and then go to the fish market literally 50m away from where these pics were taken and purchase fish FOR CONSUMPTION from that very same ocean we’re polluting?” the concerned resident said. The post caught the eye of MP-elect for Moresby South Justin Tkatchecko who replied: “This is a disgrace and we will get onto this immediately. Our people just don’t care, it makes me sick, attitudes must change and laws for litter disposal must be enforced. I will clean it up…but my people need to clean their act up.” It’s true.
