Keeping Papua New Guinea cities and towns clean and free from discarded rubbish, household wastes, and empty plastics, cans, bottles and all sorts of industrial and domestic matter, is still a huge challenge. Coupled with our filthy buai-chewing habits, the problem will continue to haunt us. Recently, at a residential area in Konedobu, National Capital District, someone contracted by the City Hall forgot to remove this pile of rubbish which was not only an eyesore, but an excellent breeding ground for mosquitoes, flies and maggots. – Nationalpic by NICKY BERNARD
