The Yalu road in Wabag is one of Enga’s famous traditional salt trade routes that extends from Enga into Kutubu in Southern Highlands and Gulf. Work on the road started last year and is continuing with gravelling to be done this week. The Wabag District Development Authority is financing the project, starting at Aiyel Valley near the Wapenamanda border into Irelya in the Wabag Rural Local Level Government area. The first limb will start from Irelya to Aiyale Valley. Tsak Valley in Wapenamanda would be next. There’s a good supply of gravel available, so a good finished product is expected.
