One day it was there, the next day it was gone – and people can now walk this way again without fear of being ripped in the leg.
This dangerous pile of barbed wire was by the footpath at Hagwa Street near the Boroko Market roundabout, Port Moresby.
Hagwa Street runs behind Coronation Primary School and school children do walk here in the morning and afternoon. Now that it is gone, the children are safe, and the work to return Boroko to its former glory continues.
For those too young to know, Coronation Primary School opened in 1953, the year of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The school was therefore named to mark that event.
