WEST New Britain recently made a change to its online requisition of procurement and claims processes which has improved the efficiency of service, acting provincial finance manager Elizabeth Palibutu says.
“This change is the way forward because there has been a backlog of claims in the province as it was all processed by one person in the provincial finance office.
“The previous structure only allowed for one person to do all the processing but now it is spread out to all the provincial administration officers so there will be a better turnaround time in the processing of claims,” she said.
“The advantage is that there will be a reduction in the turnaround time of uploading and processing claims which will enable smooth flow of services.”
Palibutu said that after five computers were bought for officers to work on the online requisition claims earlier this month.
“The provincial administration will be responsible for the procurement and uploading of claims as we have given them the checklist to make sure that all claims are in compliance with the PFMA (Public Finances Management Act),” she said.
“Prior to them uploading, the claims have to go through a compliance check and examination as well as other necessary procedures.
“At the provincial finance office, we do the online compliance check by going through the making sure that all the compliances have met the requirements checks and then the claims and cheques are processed.”
